Ontology Based Information Extraction from the Web
Buba, Vojtěch ; Bartík, Vladimír (referee) ; Burget, Radek (advisor)
The main aim of this thesis is an extraction of information from web based on conceptual modeling with ontology. The main goal of this thesis in question is implementation of a tool, which process input ontology and enable additional editing through graphical user interface. Readers of this thesis will be introduced with languages for writing ontologies, for example RDF, RDFS or OWL. Two extraction methods which use ontologies to describe extracted informations are also explained. Final solution is designed to consider all needs of extraction task defined by Ing. Radek Burget Ph.D. Output of this tool is definition of extraction task compatible with solution FITLayout, being developed at FIT BUT.
Vzájemný převod mezi XSEM PSM diagramy a jazykem Schematron
Benda, Soběslav ; Klímek, Jakub (advisor) ; Nečaský, Martin (referee)
In the present work we study possibilities in the area of automatic construction of Schematron schemas from a conceptual model for XML and possibilities in reverse-engineering of Schematron schemas. The work introduces the reader to conceptual schemas for XML and to rule-based validation of XML documents. Existing techniques for mutual conversions between XML schema languages and conceptual model are also included. The main part of the work is a design and implementation of a new method for deriving Schematron schemas from conceptual schemas for XML. This method allows to get XML schemas, which in some respects outperforms the possibilities of other popular schema languages. The work also discusses the issue of Schematron schema reverse-engineering and shows possibilities in the area and establishing basis for further research.
Profiling translation of conceptual schemas to XML schemas
Berka, Lukáš ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Holubová, Irena (referee)
In the present work we analyze the algorithm that was introduced in [4]. The algorithm performs a translation of a conceptual schema to an XML schema expressed in the XML Schema language. We look for limitations of the algorithm and try to discover parameters that can be potentially used to influence its behavior. We propose solutions to the most serious limitations. Also, we introduce a concept of a translation profiling. The concept is based on a configuration that contains a set of parameters. We modify the algorithm to use the user requirements specified in the configuration. Thanks to the improvements, the new algorithm works with the concept of XML Namespaces, uses XML Schema designs and also, focuses on an elimination of redundancy. The elimination of redundancy in an output of the algorithm is an important part of this work and we create a formal model that helps us to solve this task.
XML Formats Evolution and Integration
Klímek, Jakub ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Klettke, Meike (referee) ; Svátek, Vojtěch (referee)
In the past decade XML became a wide-spread information exchange data model. Many XML users have many XML formats described by XML schemas. To ease the management of multiple XML schemas modeling similar reality, the conceptual model for XML was defined. With its definition came various challenges that needed to be further researched. This thesis focuses on two of those challenges. The first challenge is to manage the evolution of the multi-level conceptual model as the modeled reality, XML schemas and applications evolve in time. The second challenge is to allow the majority of users who already use XML schemas in their system without the conceptual model to use their schemas to semi-automatically create one. In addition a step towards integration of the conceptual modeling of XML and semantic web techniques was taken.
Conceptual Modeling of Business Artifacts and their Implementation as Active XML
Poljak, Štěpán ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Richta, Karel (referee)
In the present work we study conceptual modeling of business ar- tifacts and their implementation in Active XML. Business artifacts are key con- ceptual entities of business processes that develop in their lifecycle during these processes. There are several possible methods for definition of artifact lifecycles. In this work, we make use of emerging method called Guard-Stage-Milestone meta- model and we study the question on how to appropriately use and extend current framework for conceptual modeling of XML schemas in order to support modeling of business artifacts. We also deal with the issue of design of suitable represen- tation of business artifacts using Active XML. Last but not least, we study the question how to translate defined model into proposed Active XML representation, so that it was possible to immediately use and demonstrate functionality of defined model. Important part of this work is an implementation of proposed extension and a prototype implementation of system for execution of Active XML repre- sentations of translated models. The present work also introduces the reader in individual used concepts and describes similar existing approach for Active XML representation of business artifacts. 1
Conceptual Design of Web Forms
Kasarda, Ján
As complexity of web applications and software grows, benefits of applying modeling techniques for the development of such applications are increasing as well. In this work, we focus on modeling web forms which are an important part of current web applications. A short motivation example will demonstrate benefits of modeling web forms at the conceptual level. We will then summarize existing approaches to conceptual modeling based on UML and Model-Driven Architecture (MDA). We will present XForms. Finally, we will discuss how to model web forms at the conceptual level and how to translate conceptual schemas of web forms to XForms representation. Our approach is based on MDA principles. Firstly, a problem domain is modeled at the conceptual level. Secondly, each form representing a part of the domain is modeled independently of its representation in XForms. The last step is generating XForms representations of the modeled forms.

Validation of XML documents against XSEM PSM schemas
Skalický, Jakub ; Malý, Jakub (advisor) ; Bednárek, David (referee)
XSEM is a modeling language created for modeling XML schemas. Its implementation, called eXolutio, provides a user friendly interface for modeling schemas in XSEM. The aim of this work is to design an algorithm for validation of XML documents against XSEM PSM schemas and comparison of the expressive power of XSEM PSM with other XML schema languages. The thesis contains the description of fundamental algorithm and all the extensions required to fully support all the constructs and capabilities provided by XSEM. The practical part describes the implementation of the proposed algorithm as an extension of eXolutio.
